Oppose A-3902

Dear Lopatcong family members:

As elected Board of Education members we are so very proud and supportive of our teachers and our administrative staff, and we are additionally very proud of our parent body as we all work together ensuring the best education possible in these circumstances, for all of our students.

As we carry on with our duties, there is a legislative item we want to bring to your attention. The NJ Assembly has passed bill A-3902 aimed at allowing municipalities to delay payment of tax revenues to school districts. In Lopatcong that local share constitutes approximately 80% of our school budget. Our ongoing costs have not declined by that amount.

As a Board we passed a resolution opposing this legislation. Other Boards are doing the same, as have multiple educational organizations including NJEA and NJ PTA. We are sending you this sample letter drafted by New Jersey School Boards Association and asking you to please fill in our township name and e-mail or send with a stamp to our Senator and Governor. Please take this moment to voice your support of education in Lopatcong.

As always we are proud to serve, and extremely proud to belong to our Lopatcong Township Family. Stay safe, Stay Healthy, and Stay Strong.
